Do you already have (partner) dance experience and want to improve your dancing skills and be in bed at reasonable hours? Then this is the workshop for you!

WORKSHOPS
Anais and Alexi are coming to Freiburg to share their love for both Blues and Fusion dancing with us and to help us improve our dancing skills.
For your full pass, you have two options to choose from:
- Option 1: Blues Intermediate + Solo Blues (all levels) + Fusion (all levels) + Universal Dance Basics (all levels)
- Option 2: Blues Intermediate/Advanced + Solo Blues (all levels) + Fusion (all levels) + Universal Dance Basics (all levels)
This means that we’ll all be together in the same classes for Solo Blues, Fusion and Universal Dance Basics, whereas in the Partner Blues classes we’ll be divided up in two groups, according to our levels.
Your first class will be on Friday at 7pm. The other classes will be on Saturday and Sunday. (See below for a detailed schedule.)
All classes will be taught by Anais and Alexi together, except for the Solo Blues class, which will be taught by Anais solo ;-)
NOTE: All classes will be taught in English. Also, we won’t switch roles during class, hence you will be asked to decide if you want to learn the content as a lead or follow.
PARTIES
For all parties, we’ll play a mix of Blues und Fusion music. On Friday, we’re starting the night with Fusion and are ending it with Blues music, and we’re swapping the order on Saturday. Both parties end at midnight. (Unless somebody wants to organize an afterparty? ;-) If you would like to do that, please get in touch with us.) Please also join us for our Tea Dance on Sunday with a mix of cozy Blues & Fusion.
On Friday, there will be a Fusion taster class at 7pm. This is included in the full pass, but also open for everyone else. The price for the taster class and party on Friday is 15€.
All parties are included in the full pass.
If you’re only coming to the parties, we’re happy if you leave a donation at the door.
Note that there is no bar at the venue, only tap water. Please bring your own drinks if you wish (and take your empty bottles back home).
THE INSTRUCTORS
ANAÏS is a versatile artist based in Grenoble. She has been teaching Swing, Blues and Fusion dancing since 2015. Her dance journey has taken her across Europe, for dance events, workshops and international competitions. Since 2023, Anaïs solidified her artistic vocation by dedicating herself fully to live performance (dance & music). She sees dancing as a cherished space for connection, freedom, and boundless creativity.
ALEXI discovered Blues and Fusion dancing in 2013, igniting his passion for these expressive art forms. Since 2016, he has been dedicated to expanding the Blues and Fusion dance communities in Brussels, serving as both a teacher and an organizer. Nowadays, he regularly teaches dance workshops and is frequently invited to DJ at international Fusion dance events. He can’t wait to come to your city to share his passion for these dances!

First Class/Taster Class: Fusion dancing in five concepts (60 min)
Fusion dancing is a dance form that blends together concepts, aesthetics and figures originating from other dance styles. This class will define Fusion via five central concepts that will allow you to have enjoyable dances all night long!
This class is included in your full pass but also open for everyone else. Price for taster class & party on Friday: 15€
Saturday Workshops - “Topic of the day: Learn more Blues and Fusion”
Choose your Blues level, please: intermediate or intermediate/advanced. In both Blues levels, the same content will be taught in different depths.
Blues: Asymmetry and playfulness in jukin’ blues (90 min)
Juking Blues is a dynamic, improvisational blues dance style that originated in juke joints and is the most commonly danced style at modern blues dance parties. In this class, we will explore fun ways to incorporate asymmetrical movements between partners, focusing on different rhythms and body parts, and demonstrate how these can create engaging call-and-response interactions.
Solo Blues (60 min)
Blues is not just a partner dance; it’s also a solo dance! Learning to dance solo helps you connect with your own groove, improve body awareness, and enrich your partner dancing skills. We’ll cover the basics and dive deeper into specific aspects (groove, musicality, intention…). Let’s heat up the dance floor!
This class will be taught by Anais alone.
Micro Fusion (90 min)
Cuddle time! Let's practice close embrace and dance micro fusion. Here, we will learn to dance with minimal movements, using your breath and different parts of your body to drive the motion. A time to dive into your inner world, listen to your partner and emphasize music with subtlety.
Sunday Workshops - “Topic of the day: Dance technique to improve your experience on the dance floor”
Universal Dance Basics: Stretch and compression (90 min)
Compression and stretch are two fundamental concepts in fusion dance. How can we build them, when and in which position? How do we transition from one to the other and create contrast in our dance? This session includes exercises and content to explore these concepts from every angle, opening up your imagination and enabling you to create dances that are both technical and creative.
Universal Dance Basics: Communication and follower contributions to the dance (90 min)
Whether you are leading or following, each partner can contribute to the dance through rhythm, movements, directions, or playful interactions. How can we create opportunities for creativity in both roles while continuing to communicate and dance together? We'll explore exercises to practice these principles through switching and back-leading.

Full Pass: 90€ for all workshops (7 hours of classes) + parties

NOTE: This is a local event in the city of Freiburg with classes and parties held at a local venue. This is NOT a residential event in the Black Forest.
